Obituary

Deborah “Debi” Cross, 63, of Atlantic, Iowa, died April 6, 2019, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.

Deborah Kay, the youngest daughter of Robert and Edwina (Wilhelm) Linfor was born in Atlantic, Iowa, on July 31, 1955. Debi was raised in the “Bucktown” neighborhood in Atlantic. It was there she fostered her love of animals and many lifelong friendships. She grew up in the First Baptist Church and continued to serve the Lord there until her death. After graduating from Atlantic High School in 1975, Debi worked as a waitress at the Atlantic Hotel. While working there she met Steven Cross and they were married November 11, 1976.

After moving to a few different states, they settled back in Atlantic to raise their two children, Azure and Kiah. Debi led a full life serving the church, caring for animals, going to lunch and shopping with friends, attending rock and roll concerts, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.

Debi is survived by her son, Hezekiah B. (Ali) Cross of Coralville, IA; daughter, Azure A. (Wade) Cross-Corell of Denver, IA; two grandchildren, Alric Cross and Clara Corell; sister, Linda Keasey; dogs, Zeke and Shy Guy; and cats, Zorro, Onslow, Sammy and Mamma Kitty; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Edwina Linfor; husband, Steven Cross; brother and sister-in-law, Mark (Nyidia) Linfor; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Dave Mullins; brother-in-law, Richard Keasey; cousin, Marsha Linfor and many beloved pets.

Open visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 10th at Roland Funeral Home. No visitation with the family present is planned.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 11th at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, with Pastor Ray McCalla of the First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the First Baptist Church.

I knew Debi since she was a little thing. We use to live next door to her. My middle sister use to hang around with her and then she became friends with my youngest sister for years to come. Debi was always a sweet kid. Although we lost touch, I never forgot her. May she rest in peace. Love, Ardith

Debi was a old friend, we had so many good times growing up and shared many good times before I left Iowa. She will always have a special place in my heart. I hope her children find peace in knowing she was a beautiful person.

Maureen..Mo Schmidt.. I worked with Debi many many years ago at McDonald's.. I can still hear her voice and laughter..we actually had fun closing.. Whenever I saw her out like at Walmart she'd say Hi Mo and hug and when she would come into McDonald's she'd say Hi Mo if she saw me..I'll miss that and will always remember her.. Rest In Peace....thoughts and prayers to family..

Grateful for too many loving memories, too many funny stories, I wish I could make more of those with Debi. She was always a cheerful giver to those who are in needs, people or animals. She saved all her treasures in heaven. I'm going to miss the talked we usually had about God's love and his grace. She was thankful what God had given her. She never failed to remember my birthday , Christmas or any holidays so we can get together to celebarate, since 1997 when I met her in Atlantic Hospital. She was my co-worker, became close friend, then like family . I'm going to miss her company whenever I go to town, her text when she tells me IM PRAYING FOR YOU. I'm going to miss her hugs, her voice saying Love you, pat in my back for comfort , every time we get together. Debi had such a big heart, grateful that God gave me those time to know her until He called her home..Missing her already!
