LAWONNA FAYE (CHASE) FREDERICKSEN Lawonna Fredericksen, 44, of Atlantic, passed away at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa on Saturday, October 10, 2009 following a brave battle with cancer. Lawonna Faye Chase was born April 17, 1965, in Council Bluffs, Iowa the daughter of Wayne E. and Mary J. (Johnson) Chase. She attended schools in Oakland and Atlantic and continued on to graduate as an LPN from nursing college. She pursued her career, as a nurse, at Atlantic Nursing and Rehab in Atlantic and at Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn. Lawonna was married to Donald R. Fredericksen on August 21, 1984 in Atlantic, Iowa. The couple was blessed with six sons. Donald passed away on June 2, 1996 the result of a truck accident. She was later married to Brian K. Cable at Zion Lutheran Church on March 10, 2001 in Atlantic. Her greatest joy was family and grandchildren. She loved camping, the Dallas Cowboys, Barbie Dolls, unicorns, trolls and peanut butter on toast. The family will remember her for being beautiful, strong, outgoing and very independent in every aspect. She is survived by her sons, Daniel Fredericksen, Randy Fredericksen, Joseph Fredericksen, David Fredericksen, Mark Fredericksen and Brandon Fredericksen, all of Atlantic; three grandchildren, Ian Alan, Serenity Justice and Davin Lee; her mother Mary J. Chase of Atlantic; sisters and brothers, Connie Schoemann- (Chris) Jones, Harold (Cindy) Chase, Larry Chase, all of Atlantic, Mary (Lynn) Johnson of Onawa, Iowa, Rose (Kris) Klinghammer of Atlantic; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Denise M. Phippen and Lisa J. Fredericksen, both of Exira, Kelly (Jim) Schwarte of Elk Horn, Iowa, Mitchell J. Fredericksen of Exira; mother and father-in-law Don and Julie Fredericksen of Exira; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Lawonna was preceded in death by her husband Don; her father Wayne; brother Phillip Chase; twin sisters in infancy; a niece Dawn Bell; nephew Tony Schoemann; and brother-in-law Anthony Schoemann. Her funeral will be at 1:30 P.M Wednesday, October 14. at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. Committal service will follow at Atlantic Cemetery. Reverend Stephen Gronseth, (chaplain of Salem Lutheran Home) of Atlantic, will officiate. There will be open visitation from 8:00 to 5:00 daily and family will meet with relatives and friends from 5:00 to 7:00 the evening of Tuesday, October 13. Funeral Information Her funeral will be at 1:30 P.M Wednesday, October 14. at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. Committal service will follow at Atlantic Cemetery.
