LEWIS GIPPLE Lewis G. Gipple, 74, of Atlantic, Iowa passed away at Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center on Thursday, July 22, 2010. Lewis Grant Gipple was born, on July 18, 1936, the son of Lewis H. and Ruth (Foster) Gipple in Greenfield, Iowa. He attended school in Bridgewater, Iowa and graduated with the Bridgewater High School Class of 1953. He received a business degree in Omaha, Nebraska. Lewis was married to Barbara Ann Gaines on July 20, 1958 in Atlantic. The couple settled in Atlantic where he was employed with Walnut Grove; Super Valu; Payless Cashway; and with Schwans for 17 years. He loved sports and especially the St. Louis Cardinals; he coached Little League for a number of years; and he loved the outdoors, taking special pleasure in hunting and fishing. His survivors include his wife Barbara; three daughters, Lu Ann Gipple of Atlantic, Lynda Conrad and husband Chris of Atlantic, and Jodi Rhoads and husband Jeff of Ames; his son, Jeff Gipple of Atlantic; nine grandchildren, Heather Conrad, Trevor Gipple, Abbey Rhoads, Brooke Conrad, Saraya Gipple, Kourtney Conrad, Chelsey Conrad, Dustin Rhoads, and Austin Conrad; two great grandchildren, Braxton Gipple and Presleigh Reese; three sisters, Lois Andersen of Fontanelle, Evelyn Simons and husband Norman of Newell, and Kathye Miller of Fontanelle; his mother-in-law, Bernice Gaines; a sister-in-law Judy Rumery; one brother-in-law Jerry Gaines and wife Marcella; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Lewis was preceded in passing by his parents; two brothers-in-law, Sonny Anderson and Delmer Miller; one nephew Mark Simons; and his father-in-law Wayne Gaines.Funeral Information Lewis" funeral will take place at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 26 at the United Church of Christ in Atlantic. There will be open visitation, at Roland Funeral Home, on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 to 5:00 and his family will meet with relatives and friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
