Waunita Alice Eskew Waunita Eskew, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away at the Creighton University Medical Center on Monday, January 10, 2011, at the age of 78. Waunita Alice Eskew was born to Walter W. and Anna (Dowse) Scott on September 22, 1932 near Orient, Iowa. She attended school and graduated from Orient High School then received her B.A. at Tarkio College in Tarkio, Missouri. Waunita was a music teacher in the schools at Stanton and Moville, Iowa. She was also a piano instructor and church choir director in the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic. On June 19, 1954, Waunita was united in marriage to John H. Eskew in Orient, Iowa. She was very active with the United Methodist Women, AAUW and Meals on Wheels. She was known for her leadership in the church. Waunita enjoyed traveling and had visited Europe, Alaska and Hawaii. She was also interested in geneology and enjoyed her flower garden and making arrangements of her flowers. Her social groups were special to Waunita but her favorite time was spent with her grandchildren. She was always a very kind, caring, persistent and curious person. Waunita was survived by her husband John of Atlantic; her son Dave and wife Deb of Laguna Niguel, California; granddaughters, Haley and Sydney of Laguna Niguel, California; nieces; nephews; sister-in-law Neola Scott; two cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father Walter Scott; her mother Anna (Dowse) Scott and a brother Ralph Scott.Funeral Information There will be an open visitation at the Roland Funeral Home Tuesday through Thursday from 8:00 - 5:00 with the family visitation Thursday evening, January 13, from 5:00 - 7:00. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Friday, January 14, at 2:00 p.m. with Lanette Plambeck officiating.
