LORRAINE V. JOHNSON Lorraine Johnson, 72, of Griswold, and formerly of Atlantic and Lewis, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Cass County Hospice Center in Atlantic, Iowa. Lorraine V. Johnson was born the daughter of Vernice and Hazel Naomi (Ramsey) Young on February 5, 1939 in Atlantic, Iowa. She attended school at Pymosa Elementary and the Atlantic High School. She became a CNA and Medication technician and was employed 32 years, retiring from her position at Griswold Care Center in 2002. She was married to Earl E. Johnson September 13, 1958 at the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic. The couple was blessed with a family of four. She occupied herself with her gardening, cooking, camping and garage sales and especially enjoyed flowers. She will be remembered for the loves of her life ~ her family and caring for others. A memorable Christmas vacation included a visit to meet President Clinton. Lorraine is survived by her husband, Earl E. Johnson; her children, Wendy Michel and husband Bill of Harrison, Arkansas, Doug Johnson and wife Janet of Elliott, Iowa; David Johnson and wife Elaine of Atlantic, Iowa, and Mike Johnson and wife Shanna of Spencer, Iowa; 13 grandchildren, Rachel Schutte and husband Ryan, Robin Hansen, Eric Hansen and wife Heidi, Alison Miles and husband Mike, Blaine Hansen, Jessica Johnson and friend Cody, Brett Johnson and wife Stacy, Kyle Johnson and friend Stephanie, Brock Johnson, Danielle Johnson and fiancé, Justin Thompson, Adrianna Johnson, Aiden Johnson, and Tyler Clark; nine great grandchildren; Reagen and Riley Schutte, Payton Weaver, Ava and Parker Hansen, Autumn, Kylee and Halle Miles, and Hannah Clark; her sister Marion Esbeck and husband Roger of Panora, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Hopkins of Weston, Iowa and Mary Chase of Atlantic, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Kenneth Young; two sisters, Marjorie Falconer and Judy Young; and a brother-in-law, Jack Falconer.Funeral Information The funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, February 17 at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. Bill Michel will officiate. There will be open visitation at the funeral home daily from 8:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. The family will meet with relatives and friends on Wednesday, February 16 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Memorials may be designated to Cass County Hospice. Lorraine's family extends an invitation for relatives and friends to join them for a luncheon at the Church of Christ at 51 Harrison Street in Griswold following the funeral. There is no committal service planned at this time. Roland Funeral Home of Atlantic, Iowa is caring for Lorraine's family and the arrangements.
