Obituary for Paul Espeland

Paul
Espeland, a life long resident of Atlantic, passed away
Wednesday morning, September 7, 2011,
at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center
at the age of 67.

Paul
Howard Espeland was born in Atlantic to Howard Silas and
LaVeda June (Rifen) Espeland on June
20, 1944. He attended school
in Atlantic, graduating with the class of 1962 and
continued his education at the Creston
Community College for two more
years. Paul later joined the United
States Army and served overseas. On July 16, 1983, Paul was united in
marriage to Helen Irene Christensen in the Emanuel
Lutheran Church
in Kimballton, Iowa.
He was a member of the New
Harvest Church
in Atlantic. Paul is survived by his wife Helen of Atlantic; one daughter, Jessica (Johnny) Blocker of Henderson, IA; 5 grandchildren, Tristain, Thomas, Tydus, Treytain and Trynt Blocker; one sister, Beverly Christensen of Chariton, IA; nieces, Dalene (Bob) Norgaard of Ankeny, IA, Julene (Frank) Sadler of Des Moines, IA, Charlene (Rev. Dan) Butler of Litchfield Park, Arizona and Marcalene (Todd) Davis of Carlisle, IA; and a number of great nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and LaVeda Espeland.There will be an open visitation at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic for Paul Saturday morning from 8:00 - 12:00 and Sunday afternoon from 1:00 to 5:00. Family will meet with relatives and friends from 2:00 - 4:00. There will also be open visitation on Monday with a family meeting with relatives and friends from 5:00 - 7:00 in the evening. Services for Paul will be held at the First Assembly of God Church in Atlantic at 10:30, Tuesday morning, September 13, with a military service at the Atlantic Cemetery to follow.Condolences may be left in his guest book at
