Obituary for Ruth E. Oler

Ruth E. Oler, 90, of Atlantic, passed away Sunday evening, December 7, 2014, at the Creighton Medical Center in Omaha.

The daughter of George & Elnora Timmons Dory, she was born August 8, 1924, in Bridgewater, Iowa, where she grew up and later graduated from high school. She was united in marriage to John H. Oler, June 26, 1942, in St. Joseph, MO. She worked at the Economy Shoe Store in Atlantic for over 17 years. Ruth was a member of the United Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge for more than 70 years and the PNG Club.

Ruth's family includes her daughter, Julie (Craig) Mead of Omaha; daughter-in-law, Joyce Oler of Rogers, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Sonja (Brad) Fletcher, Sean Oler, Bradley John (Makyla) Mead and Austin Mead; three great grandchildren, Gavin, Briceton & Keegan Fletcher; brother, Paul Dory of Bridgewater; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John in 1998; son, J. Douglas Oler in 2004; daughter, Rita Kay Oler, in infancy, in 1951; brothers, Marian "Stub" Dory, Glenn Dory, Clark Dory, Fred "Brick" Dory; and sisters, Gladys Kembery, Hazel Stoffel, Doris Phillips, and Thelma Henderson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, with Pastor Nancy Jensen of the United Church of Christ officiating.
