MARILYN CONRAD

Marilyn Conrad, 85, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014.

Marilyn Alice Martens was born on February 4, 1929, in Noble Township, Cass County, Iowa, the daughter of Herbert and Irene (Wohlenhaus) Martens. She attended country school and graduated from Atlantic High School in 1947. Marilyn was a waitress for many years at Odin's in Atlantic.

On July 28, 1986, she married Gyle Conrad at the Church of Christ in Griswold. They lived on her family farm until moving to town in 2006. They traveled to many country music shows throughout the years. She loved to spend time outdoors, especially camping, which was something she did even when the kids were young. Marilyn looked forward to going to church and visiting with friends. She and Gyle spent time going to coffee and taking in the view off their patio.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Gyle, of Atlantic; daughter, Pam (Patrick) Hall of Griswold, Iowa; son, Dan McCormick of Milwaukee, WI; stepchildren, Linda (Steve) Herington of Waverly, IA, Lu Ann (Mike) Reynolds of Villisca, IA, Chris (Lynda) Conrad of Atlantic, IA, and Lori Roske of Hampton, IA; 2 grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and 11 step great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Irene Martens; granddaughter, Cheri Lynn Mathis; brother, Kenneth (Letha) Martens; and niece, Ann Shriver.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at Roland Funeral Home with Pastor David Andersen, officiating.

Interment will be in the Weirich Cemetery, southeast of Lyman, Iowa. A luncheon will be held at the Lewis Community Center following services at the cemetery.

The public may sign the register book & view Monday & Tuesday, September 8 & 9, 8 A.M.-5:30 P.M. and Wednesday from 8 AM until service time, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the family for designation at a later date.
