Obituary for Fay Eblen

Fay Eblen
L. FAY EBLEN

LeRoy Fay Eblen, 73, a life-time resident of Cass County, passed away Thursday, January 30, at his home north of Atlantic.
The son of Wilbur and Zeta Fay Eblen, he was born May 15, 1940 in Lewis, Iowa. He graduated from the Atlantic High School and was involved in track and band during those years. Fay was united in marriage to LaVon Dorothy Morrow, June 14, 1964 in Atlantic. Fay was a draftsman by trade and was self-employed. He and his wife have been very active in the Atlantic Community. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a dynamic part of ARISE-Atlantic Rock Island Society Enterprise; the American Legion Building Committee and very involved with Class of 1958 reunions. He had an excellent memory and his classmates would often refer to him to remember events and details. Frosting doughnuts made by his mother to deliver to the Greyhound bus stop was a favorite childhood memory of Fay’s. He loved cats and said that his job was "herding cats." Fay avidly read World War II literature and enjoyed model building. Some favorite travel destinations were San Diego, CA and Jackson, WY.
Fay is survived by his wife, LaVon, numerous cousins and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur & Zeta.
Memorial services are being held Tuesday, February 4, 2014, 1:30 PM, at the Roland Funeral Home, with Pastor Lanette Plambeck of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.
The family will meet friends Monday evening, February 3, 2014 from 5-7 PM, also at Roland Funeral Home.
