Obituary for Neoma Mildred Ridlen (Brindley)

.NEOMA MILDRED RIDLEN

Neoma Mildred Ridlen, age 93, formerly of Griswold, passed away Sunday evening, May 20, 2012, at the Avoca Nursing and Rehab Center in Avoca, Iowa.
Neoma was born August 8, 1918 in the rural town of Marne, Iowa to Marvin and Edna Kellogg Brindley. She traveled a life long journey that lasted many wonderful years. A journey of dreams fulfilled and endured pains acknowledged....of joy, laughter, love and tears....all the same, a journey as sweet as honey and beautiful as the brightest star.
Neoma and Ben Ridlen were married on March 14, 1940 in Blair, Nebraska. They farmed the land in Iowa from the time they were married, farming near Lewis and Ida Grove before farming for twenty-eight years near Griswold, Iowa. Eventually, they moved into the town of Griswold where she resided for sixteen years.
A life's journey shared with a good man, Ben; sons, Glenn and Mason (fiance, Ana); grandchildren, Joe, Michael (Kathie), Mark, Misty, Jay and Jim (Dawn); great-grandchildren, Amanda, Lucas, Brandon, Joshua, Katie and Shelbie; and a great-great granddaughter, Makenzi. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ben; brother, Melvin; sister, Leah; son, Glenn; grandson, Joe; granddaughter, Misty, and daughters-in-law, Carrol Ridlen and Carol Ridlen.
There will be an open visitation at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa, Tuesday and Wednesday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with a family visitation on Wednesday, May 23, from 5:00 to 7:00 in the evening
Services for Neoma will be held Thursday, May 24, at the Roland Funeral Home at 10:00 am with Pastor Nadine Aydt, of the United Congregational Methodist Church in Lewis, officiating. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Lewis. The family requests contributions by made to the scholarship fund for the nursing school at Iowa Western Community College in Neoma's name.
