Obituary for Kenneth "Ken" Crane
Kenneth “Ken” O. Crane, 77, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Mercy One Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa after a short battle with COVID-19 Pneumonia.
Ken was born December 12, 1943 in Atlantic, Iowa, to Donald J. and Marjorie E. (Jensen) Crane. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1962. Ken married the love of his life, Sharon Wedel on August 31, 1963 in Council Bluffs, IA. Ken was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Ken was a self-employed route salesman in southwest Iowa, having been with Little Debbie Snak Cakes for 25 years. In his retirement years, Ken drove school bus for Atlantic Community Schools. He dearly loved “his kids.”
Ken is survived by his wife, Sharon Crane of Atlantic, IA; his son, Mark (Carol) Crane of Bettendorf, IA; his daughter, Cindy (Randy) Hellman of Waterloo, IA; grandchildren, Spencer Crane, Shelby Crane, Tyler (Lexus) Moore, Alyssa Hellman, and Cody Hellman; brother, Gary (Carol) Crane; sisters, Peggy (Pat) Dalton and Judy (Randy) Walford; sister and brother-in-law, Connie (Ron) Greer; nieces and nephews; cousins; special aunt, Kathryn (Don) Illian; and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Don and Marge Crane; father-in-law, Clinton Wedel; mother-in-law, Viola Grote; sister-in-law, Janice Wright; and brother-in-law, Doug Heitink.
Open visitation, without the family present, will be from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday, January 4th and from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 5th at Roland Funeral Home.
A private family memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The service will be recorded and available at www.rolandfuneralservice.com by Thursday midday.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the them for designation at a later date.
