Obituary for Caryl Miller (Schuler)

Caryl Sue Miller, 70, of Avondale, Arizona and formerly of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away July 22, 2020, at her home in Avondale, Arizona.

Caryl was born November 27, 1949, the daughter of Murry Winfred and M. Sharlene (Knoke) Schuler at the Atlantic Hospital in Atlantic. She attended Atlantic Community Schools, graduating with the High School Class of 1967. Caryl enjoyed helping with the wheat harvest that her parents and siblings were involved in during her high school years. Following graduation, she attended Patricia Stevens School of Business in Omaha, Nebraska graduating with a degree in Fashion Merchandising.

On November 22, 1997, she was united in marriage to Scott Miller in Omaha, Nebraska. Caryl always worked in customer service and before her retirement in 2004, she worked at JOANN Fabrics and Crafts; what a great fit for someone who loved sewing and quilting. She was a member of the Go Red for Women, where she would inform women on how to prevent heart disease with the American Heart Association. Caryl enjoyed traveling and visited several places including the United States and abroad. She was able to travel to Israel, Bethlehem, and the pyramids in Egypt with her parents.

She made special pocket prayer quilts with a cross sewn on the inside with a poem attached that she loved to give to anyone she met and also quilts for her family, friends, and also newborns, paying special attention to make each quilt a specialty piece.

The last few years Caryl purchased something that she had always wanted, a Mustang car. She had many miles of fun while driving in her car and drove it whenever she had a chance.

Caryl is survived by her husband, Scott Miller of Avondale, Arizona; her son, James Murry (Karen) Kocarnik; her daughter, Regina Lynn Molloy; her grandsons, Benjamin and Matthew Kocarnik; her sisters, Doreen (Galen) Ross, and Sheryl (Al) Walgenbach; her nieces and nephews, Michael (Ninette) Ross, Alazanderia Ross, Theresa Ross, Traci (John) Langland, Jamie (Steve) Rhoades, Kristi (Rod) Mumm, many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Murry and M. Sharlene Schuler; her paternal grandparents, Harold and Evelyn Schuler; her maternal grandparents, William and Gretta Knoke.
