Obituary for Renee Watson

Renee Diane (Mallon) Watson passed away June 10, 2019, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic. She was born March 13, 1956, in Atlantic, Iowa to Lawrence and Marvele A. (Samson) Mallon. Renee was a graduate of Atlantic High school in 1974. She graduated from Iowa Western Community College in 1980, with an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development. She was married to the love of her life, Bruce, on February 14, 1974. Renee and Bruce resided in Wiota, Atlantic, and Woden, Iowa, before settling in their current house in Atlantic.

Her love of dance started at the age of nine and as an adult she taught dance lessons to others that shared her interest. She worked as a child care provider, bank teller, apartment manager, and homemaker. Her love for people gave her the opportunity to volunteer feeding the homeless with Table of Mercy, serving breakfast first at Siena Francis House and then at Open Door Mission, both in Omaha. She also recently served others with Beautiful Gate Ministries in Omaha in their street ministry program. This gave Renee the great opportunity to pray for individuals she met from the street; her greatest delight, to tell them of the love Jesus had for them.
Renee was a member of New Life Church CGOP, in Atlantic and was active in the church’s Back to School program, Easter Egg Hunt, and Christmas Play, as well as various other activities. She was usually the first to welcome any new people to church and always had a hug for everyone. As a member of Gideons International, she has given out hundreds of Bibles to nursing homes, doctor’s offices and individuals.

Renee is survived by her husband, Bruce; daughter, Tiffany (Kevin) Houser of Waterloo, Iowa; son, Christopher (Amanda) Watson of Waterloo, Iowa; mother, Marvele Mallon of Atlantic; brothers, Steve (Peggy) Mallon of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Lonnie (Mary Jo) Mallon of Janesville, Iowa, Jim (Dita) Mallon of Sumner, Iowa, Derek Mallon of Omaha, Nebraska, and Eric Mallon of Atlantic; five granddaughters, Valerie Watson, Lacey Houser, Kyrie Poor, Samantha Houser, Morgan Houser; three grandsons, Logan Houser, Axl Poor, Archer Watson; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends, all of whom she loved unconditionally.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Mallon.

Memorials may be made to New Life Church and Gideons International.
