Obituary

Joye Carr, 75, of Anita, Iowa, died Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at Atlantic Specialty Care in Atlantic.

The daughter of Ellis Marion and Faye Larene (Patrick) Adamson, Joye Eleene was born September 12, 1943, in the Des Moines Methodist Hospital. Her early education was completed at Brooks Elementary School in Des Moines. In 1961, she graduated in the Top Ten of her class of 250 students at Des Moines Technical School. She then attended Drake University for a year, before going to work as an executive secretary for the American Chiropractic Association for three years. On April 19, 1969, she was united in marriage to Clifford Eugene Carr, Sr. in Des Moines, Iowa. Three children were born to this union and her three step children were welcomed to the family. They made their home in the Anita area.

She and Cliff purchased, owned and operated the Anita Café and Greyhound Bus Stop for 16 years, before she retired. In addition, Joye was a homemaker, enjoyed crochet, tending her flower and vegetable gardens and caring for her horses, dogs and cats. Clifford and Joye ran the Avoca Music Festival for 10 years and she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 48 years. She loved life and lived it to the fullest!
