Obituary for Sandra Kay Wright (Esbeck)
Sandra Wright, 66, of Atlantic, Iowa, died January 25, 2019, at Mercy Medical Center in West Des Moines, Iowa.
The daughter of Robert and Veta (Hansen) Esbeck, was born October 11, 1952, in Nebraska. She grew up in Elk Horn, Iowa, and attended Elk Horn Community Schools. She was baptized in the Elk Horn Lutheran Church. Sandra was united in marriage to Dale James Wright on September 4, 1968, in Papillion, Nebraska. Four children were born to this union, Dale, Duke, Dawn and Michelle. They lived in Elk Horn for several years and she was employed as an EMT and also worked for Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn. They lived several places before settling in Atlantic, Iowa; calling it home. Sandra worked in healthcare most of her life with the bulk of her career being with the Park Place/Sunshine Homes in Atlantic for over 20 years. Her hobbies included fishing, camping, shopping, and she was an animal lover! At the top of her list was spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren! Her loving heart was always open and she readily accepted all her childrens’ friends as family.
She is survived by her husband, Dale Wright of Atlantic; four children, Dale (Kristina) Wright of Des Moines, Duke Wright of Atlantic, Dawn (Charles) Edwards of Atlantic and Michelle (Simon) Thomas of Atlantic; grandchildren, Jaynah Wright of Des Moines, Maryah Wright of Des Moines, Charles Edwards, III of Atlantic, Michael Edwards of Atlantic, Kassidy Edwards of Atlantic, Nicholas Edwards of Atlantic, Samantha Edwards of Atlantic, Dannika Schwarte of Atlantic, Dacoda Schwarte of Atlantic, Blake (Rayne) Thomas of Elk Horn, Tyler Thomas of Atlantic, Dylan Thomas of Atlantic; great grandchildren, Celeste, Ryan, Spencer, Olivia, Mirabella, Addaline and Piper; her sisters, Cindy (Ted) Goodner of Atlantic, Sharon Esbeck of Centerville, Iowa, Cristal Dunkerson of Carroll, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Vincent Esbeck.
Funeral Services will be on held Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at 10:30 a.m., at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
Visitation with the family present will be Monday evening, January 28, 2019, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
