Norma Jean  Vollmuth
Norma Jean Vollmuth, 76, longtime resident of Atlantic, passed away in her home on Friday, March 28, 2003. The daughter of Elmer and Elsie Cook, Norma was born in Atlantic on November 5, 1926.She married Ferd Vollmuth on September 5, 1943 in Oakland, Iowa. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who took great pride in her family. An avid sports fan, she raised three Atlantic Trojan athletes, loved to play cards, dance, and cook for family and friends. After her family was grown and gone, she worked for many years at Grahms clothing store. She was a past member of the Odd Fellows Rebecca Lodge.Norma is survived by her husband; four children, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Her children include Linda and Duane Harris of Plymouth, Minnesota; Lyle and Vicki Vollmuth of Omaha, Nebraska; Jim and Brenda Vollmuth of Denver, Colorado; and Ken and Shelley Vollmuth of Ankeny, IA. Her grandchildren are Stephanie Harris of Savage, Minnesota; Allison and Curt Ingham of Ankeny, Iowa; Chris and Jill Vollmuth of Omaha, Nebraska; Jenny and Ben McKensey of Omaha, Nebraska; Melissa and Nathan Croom of Lincoln, Nebraska; Matt Vollmuth of Omaha, Nebraska Jamie Vollmuth of Denver, Colorado; and Emily Vollmuth of Ankeny, Iowa. Her great-grandchildren are Grace Vollmuth and Harrison Ingham. Surviving brothers and sisters include Velma Wheeler of Villisca, Iowa; Marilyn and Don Weber of Leesburg, Florida; Cleo Cook of Atlantic; Don and Marilyn Cook of Atlantic; her sister-in-law, Rosalie Cook of Atlantic; her brother-and-law, John Wheatley of Lewis, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Betty Glissmann and Talena Wheatley and three brothers, Ernest, Darrell and Robert Cook. Services for Norma will be Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa with Pastor Sharon Guffey-Lewis of the Lewis United Congregational Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
