Obituary for Ervin E. Zellmer

Ervin Ernest Zellmer, 86, a resident of the Griswold Care Center and a long time rural Atlantic resident, passed away early Thursday morning, July 18, 2003, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak.Ervin Ernest Zellmer was born July 30, 1916, west of Atlantic to John Edward Zellmer and Ella Preuss. He attended school west of Atlantic. Ervin farmed in the Cumberland and Wiota areas before moving to Grove township southeast of Atlantic in 1945. On October 3, 1941, he was united in marriage to Lela G. Turner in Papillion, Nebraska. Ervin worked for Morman's Feed, Walnut Grove Freed, First Whitney Bank and was the grave opener for Wiota Cemetery for many years and retired when he got tired. Ervin and Lela entered the Griswold Care Center on September 11, 2001.He is survived by his wife, Lela; three chidren, Raymond and wife Rosemary Zellmer of Wiota, Karen Rohde of St. Ansgar, and Elsie and husband LaVern (Dutch) Ratashak of Red Oak; six grandchildren, Russell Zellmer, Randy and wife Liz Berry, Chad and wife Debbie Berry, Andy and wife Angie Rohde, Corey Rohde and Shaw Ratashak; seven great-grandchildren, Dustin, Travis, Shina, Caleb, Jackie and Amanda Berry and Michelle Rohde; one great-great-granddaughter MacKenzi Rohde and one great-great-grandson Jesse Conrad; one brother Dale and wife Laverne Zellmer; one sister Marie Waston; two brothers-in-law, Robert Turner and Max Turner and wife Joann; one sister-in-law, Helen and her husband Elmer Soukup and many friends.Ervin is preceded in death by his parents John and Ella Zellmer; three brothers, Earl, Herbert and Alvin and one brother-in-law Floyd Turner.Funeral InformationServices for Ervin will be held Saturday, July 19, 2003, at 2:30 p.m. at the Rolands Funeral Home with Reverend Sue Hyndman officiating. Interment will be in the Wiota Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday Friday from 7 - 8 p.m. at Rolands.Roland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
