Lela Gertrude Zellmer, 86, of the Griswold Care Center and a long time rural Atlantic resident, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2004 at the Griswold Care Center.Lela was the daughter of Ora and Maude (Jones) Turner born on December 2, 1917 south of Atlantic, Iowa. Lela grew up in the Atlantic area and attended the Atlantic High School graduating in 1937. On October 3, 1941, Lela was united in marriage to Ervin Ernest Zellmer in Papaillion, Nebraska. She was a loving mother and homemaker. Lela and Ervin entered the Griswoold Care Center on September 11, 2001. Lela belonged to the United Church of Christ in Atlantic.She is survived by three children, Raymond Zellmer and his wife Rosemary of Wiota, IA,Karen Rohde of Stacyville and special friend Irvin Jeno of Owantona, MN and Elsie Ratashak and her husband LaVern (Dutch) of Red Oak, IA; six grandchildren, Russell Zellmer, Randy Berry and his wife Liz, Chad Berry and his wife Debbie, Andy Rohde and his wife Angie, Corey Rohde and Shawn Ratashak; eight great-grandchildren, Dustin, Travis, Shina, Caleb, Jackie and Amanda Berry, Michelle and MacKenzi Rohde; one great-great grandson Jesse Conrad; two brothers Robert Turner of Crystal Lake, IL and Max Turner and his wife Joann of Elk Horn, NE; one sister Helen Soukup and her husband Elmer of Cary, IL; one brother-in-law, Dale Zellmer and many nieces, nephews and friends.Lela is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ervin; a brother Floyd Turner; two sisters-in-law Patricia Turner and Laverne Zellmer and a granddaughter, Robin Berry.Funeral InformationVisitation: Wed, Mar 10, 2004 at RolandsFuneral: 3/11/2005, 2:00:00 PM at RolandsBurial: Wiota Cemetery
