Kathy Owens, 57, of Atlantic, Iowa passed away at the Atlantic Nursing & Rehab Center on Friday, October 13.Kathy was born the daughter of Jesse Kimble and Hedwig "Hattie" Owens in Washington D.C. on August 25, 1949. She grew up in the Metropolitan area of Washington D.C.. She attended schools in Montgomery County, Maryland and Arlington County, Virginia. Kathy was employed at the Sheltered Occupational Center in Arlington, VA and Cass Incorporated's Workshop in Atlantic, IA.Kathy"s family will remember her as a very independent person. She loved to dance. Listening and singing to her records were her favorite hobby. Kathy always wanted to go to work no matter what. She enjoyed being with all her Coworkers and Supervisors.She is survived by her mother, Hattie Owens; sisters, Susie Roux and her husband, Emile, and Liz Winston and her husband, Richard. Her four nephews, Michael, Matthew, Mark Roux and Rob Winston. Her niece, Christine Banavige, and two great nieces, Kimberly and Elissa Banavige.She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Kimble Owens.A prayer service followed by visitation will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 15th at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. Her funeral service will be held at the SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 16th. Following the mass, all are invited to join the family at a luncheon to be held at the Parish Center of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church.
