MARIE JOHNSON Marie (Jensen) Johnson, 95, went to be with her Lord on Friday, April 3, 2009 at the Heritage House in Atlantic, Iowa. Marie Johanna Johnson was born the daughter of Chris M. and Mary Bertha (Simmersen) Jensen on February 13, 1914 south of Exira, Iowa. She grew up attending school in Anita where she graduated with the Anita High School class of 1932. She was married to Walter Leroy Johnson on October 28, 1942 in Maryville, Missouri. The couple lived in the Anita area, for a short time in California, northeast of Atlantic and then moved to 901 Pine in Atlantic in 1971. They were blessed with a son Alan. Marie was a kitchen employee at Heritage House and Cass County Memorial Hospital from which time she will be fondly remembered as "The Cinnamon Roll Lady." She was a member of United Church of Christ of Atlantic and was involved in Clover Leaf and Sunshine Clubs. Her hobbies were crocheting and playing cards with family and friends. She is survived by her son Alan and his wife Lori of Atlantic; two grandsons, Nick and his wife Kiersten of Indianola and Nathan and his fiance' Carolyn Christofferson; one sister-in-law Lillie Johnson and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Walter, sister Dagmar Johnson; brother George Jensen and brothers and sisters in-law.Funeral InformationThere will be open visitation and her family will meet with relatives and friends on Monday, April 6, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. Pastor, Nancy Jensen of Atlantic United Church of Christ will officiate. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, also at Roland Funeral Home. Committal service will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Anita, Iowa. There will be a luncheon at the United Church of Christ following the committal.
