Wilma Arlene Thomsen, age 93, passed away at her home at Cumberland on Friday, January 15, 2010. Wilma Arlene was born July 3, 1916 to Clyde and Hazel (Hebing) Drager. She was born at home which was a mile from where her home is now. She attended elementary and high school in Cumberland, Iowa. Wilma married Willis Gordon Thomsen on March 17, 1935. They farmed all of their lives in the Cumberland area until retiring. Wilma and Willis spent many years at their summer cabin on the Winnipeg River at Kenora, Ontario, Canada which they build in 1952. They both loved the outdoors as well as the fishing. She was also an avid bird watcher as well as a great lover of dogs and cats. Wilma was an original member and organizer of the Neighborhood Pinochle Club started in 1960. She was a member of the Cumberland Methodist Church in Cumberland. Survivors include her son Larry and wife Donna from Edwards, MO; grandchildren, Darin Thomsen of Wiota, IA and Tracy and husband Dave Porter of Honey Creek, IA; great grandchildren, Chase and Chelsea Porter of Honey Creek, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Hazel Drager, husband Willis Thomsen, step-sisters, Bonnie Curtis, Helen Rabe and step-brother Carroll Bonnet.Funeral Information Wilma's funeral service will be in the Cumberland Methodist Church in Cumberland at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday January 21. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the funeral service, at 2:00 P.M. at the church also. Due to weather conditions, the family requests friends remain at the church while they have their committal service in the Greenwood Cemetery at Cumberland.
