MARY EHRMAN Mary Ehrman, 75, long time resident of rural Atlantic, passed away at Heritage House in Atlantic on Tuesday, March 2, 2010. Mary was born the daughter of James and Zella (McCue) Hollinrake on January 18, 1935 in Adair, Iowa. She attended school in Adair then graduated from Mount Loretto High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Mary studied for one year at Mount St. Scholastica at Atchison, Kansas. On July 7, 1956, Mary was united in marriage to Gene Ehrman in Adair, Iowa. During her children"s early years, Mary was a stay at home mother and farm wife. In 1980 she started her own insurance and financial business, The Ehrman Agency. Mary was blessed by her marriage to her beloved husband, Gene. The couple enjoyed raising their family of four and adored their grandchildren. Mary was a member of S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic and of NAIFA (National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors). She won multiple sales awards and earned many levels of professional certificates. Some of her interests were her family, her business and travel. She traveled to Ireland, Eastern Europe, Korea, Thailand and Russia. She also cruised the Caribbean and Mediterranean. Mary traveled to the Ozarks for her honeymoon and enjoyed return trips to the area. She was known for her great sense of humor and generous nature. She was strong, loving, giving, kind, determined, positive and optimistic. She was a life-long learner. She is survived by her husband Gene of Atlantic, IA; children, Mark Ehrman and grandson Ben of Iowa City, IA; Lynn Ehrman and wife Becky and children Ryan, Dan and Connor of Omaha, NE; Rita Ehrman of Moscow, Russia; Jim Ehrman and wife Shelly of Northfield, VT; foster daughter Shirley Schmitt and husband Jesse of Marne, IA; nephew Francis Hollinrake and wife Debbie of Adair, IA; niece Maureen Sheeder and husband Dale of Casey, IA and several great nieces and nephews. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, James and Zella Hollinrake and a brother Hugh Hollinrake.Funeral Information There is open visitation daily from 8:00 - 5:30 at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic with a rosary at 6:00, Friday evening, March 5, at the funeral home followed by the family meeting relatives and friends. Services will be held on Saturday morning, March 6, at 10:30 at the S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Father Dan Siepker officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Catholic Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at the Catholic Parish Center following the services. Condolences may be left on the funeral home website at www.rolandfuneralservice.com.
