Obituary for Linda L. Meyer
Linda Louisemarie Meyer, 68, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away peacefully at her home and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 30, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Linda was born in Atlantic, on July 21, 1950, to Louis and Dorothy (Adams) Schaaf. She was the fourth of six children. Linda’s family spent time living in both Lewis and Atlantic during her childhood. She graduated from Atlantic High School in 1968. Linda married the love of her life, Richard Meyer, on April 17, 1970, at the Lewis Church of Christ. The couple was blessed with four daughters, Rachelle, Renee, Lindsey and Leslie.
Linda and Richard spent their life together in Atlantic, where Linda devoted her time to making a home for her family and raising their children. Linda enjoyed baking, puzzles, planning parties, listening to music, and attending her children and grandchildren’s activities. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, giving spirit, and devotion to the Lord. Linda was baptized on April 8, 1970. She was a longtime member of the First Church of Christ in Atlantic, where she enjoyed worshipping and serving her Savior. Her life was a precious gift to her family, and her laughter, loving smile, and kindness will be dearly missed.
Linda is survived by her husband, Richard of Atlantic; her children, Rachelle (Jeff) Barnes of La Vista, NE, Renee Meyer of Atlantic, Lindsey Meyer of Atlantic, and Leslie Meyer of Oskaloosa, IA; her grandchildren, Tyler and Allison Barnes of La Vista, NE; sisters, Denise (Bill) Hildebrand of Atlantic, Sherry (Jay) Brown of Atlantic, and Kathy (Rick) Linfor of Atlantic; sister-in-law, Marlene Schaaf of Lincoln, NE and Donna Schaaf of Waukee, IA; brothers-in-law, Chris (Kathy) Meyer of Atlantic and Craig (Deb) Meyer of Lewis; and many special nieces, nephews, and friends.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Dorothy, her brothers, Dennis and Allen Schaaf; brother-in-law, Dennis Meyer and his wife, Alene.
Visitation with the family present will be held Friday evening, October 5, 2018, from five to seven p.m. at the First Church of Christ in Atlantic, 1310 SW 7th, Atlantic, Iowa 50022.
Funeral services will be held at ten a.m., Saturday, October 6, 2018, at the First Church of Christ in Atlantic.
Burial will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation.
