Obituary for Robert "Bob" Heiman

Robert “Bob” Heiman, 87, of Atlantic, Iowa, died Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at Atlantic Specialty Care.

Robert Arthur Heiman was born on April 9, 1931, in Avoca, Iowa, the son of Arthur Adolph and Naomi Irene (Headlee) Heiman. He was raised on the family farm near Hancock, Iowa, until at 10 years of age the family moved to Council Bluffs. While there he attended Abraham Lincoln High School, graduating in the Class of 1948. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge in 1952, he lived in southern California for a short time before settling in Sacramento. On July 30, 1978, he was united in marriage to Dona Lancaster at her parents’ home in Sacramento. In 1978, the couple moved to Atlantic, Iowa, to be closer to family and for a slower pace of life.

Bob worked as a security guard for Per Mar, retiring in 2003. His love of working on old radios and cameras led him to opening his own store for 10 years, All Makes TV and Stereo. Bob was an avid collector of antique radios, cameras, and cars including a 1952 Pontiac four door sedan.

Bob is survived by his son, Stewart Brian Heiman of Mexico; daughters, Starlin Yvonne (Dennis) Patrick of Railroad Flats, CA and Tamyra Gangwer of Carmichael, CA; step-son, Michael David (D’enne) West of Hillsboro, OR; seven grandchildren; one adopted grandchild; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Sharon Scales of Pensacola, FL.

He is preceded in death by his father, Arthur Heiman; mother, Naomi McLean; wife, Dona in 2005; brothers, Delbert “Dean” and Charles Heiman; and sister, Colleen Headlee.
