Obituary for Edna C. Heithoff (Kerper)

Edna Clara Heithoff, 87, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at Heritage House in Atlantic

Edna was the daughter of John and Anna (Balk) Kerper. She was born in Willey, Iowa, on October 1, 1930, the 5th of 12 children. She attended school in the Carroll, Iowa, area and graduated from Carroll High School in 1948. She worked in Des Moines until her marriage to Floyd Heithoff on February 1, 1951. They lived briefly in Laguna Beach, CA, and then in Carroll for ten years before moving to Atlantic in 1963. She was a member of St. Peter & Paul Church in Atlantic and belonged to the women’s organization.

She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd Heithoff in April of this year; her parents, John and Anna Kerper; siblings, Wayne Kerper, Millie Renze, Jim Kerper, Gerald Kerper, LouAnn Ramaekers, Mary Jane Dahl, Maxine Tyler, and David Kerper.

Survivors include five children: CJ (Kim) Heithoff of Council Bluffs, IA, Cindy (John) Winsted of Centennial, CO, Cathy (Mike) Baragary of Walnut, IA, Diane (Elmer) Grunst of Bailey, CO, and Becky (Tony) Zablocki of Centennial, CO; ten grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jeff) Steenhoek, Brian (Emily) Heithoff, Tom (Sonya) Watson, Allana (Greg) Lenz, Dan (Julie) Watson, Ellyn Winsted, Emily (Nathan) Clark, Lillie Zablocki, Ross Grunst, and Cooper Zablocki; step grandchildren, Brian (Jen) Denham, Matt Denham, Casey (Anna) Baragary and Bryce Baragary; nine great grandchildren; brothers Larry (Jen) Kerper and Richard (Carol) Kerper and sister Jolene Spellman; brothers-in-law Howard (Pat) Heithoff and Wayne Heithoff and sister-in-law Mary Schwabe.

Edna will be remembered by her children as a most loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her family was her #1 focus and joy. She was an avid reader and often could be caught watching the Hallmark Channel in her spare time. Her cooking was unsurpassed with her spaghetti and meatballs and her homemade cinnamon rolls being family favorites.

Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Friday, September 14, at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 15, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic. A family burial will be held in the SS Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Atlantic.

Memorials are preferred to the Ann Wickman Child Development Center or to SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, both in Atlantic.
