Lorraine G. Vedane, 99, a longtime resident of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, on August 30, 2018, where she resided with her daughter, Linda, for the past 14 years.

Lorraine Georgia Lindeman was born October 20, 1918, to Fred and Geneva Lindeman in Lewis, Iowa. She graduated from Lewis High School in 1936. On August 24, 1937, she was united in marriage to Paul Vedane, the love of her life. They farmed the Vedane family farm in the Fletcher Chapel area and moved to Atlantic in 1955.

Lorraine was a wonderful cook and especially loved to bake. She also enjoyed playing cards, reading, word puzzles, and crafts; specializing in Christmas decorations for her family and friends. Lorraine was a huge sports fan and raised her daughters to be as well. No matter the time of day if the Hawkeyes, Cyclones, or any other professional football or baseball game was on there was no question as to what Lorraine was watching.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic, and volunteered many hours with the United Methodist Women and Ruth’s Circle. She also greatly enjoyed working with the ZaGaZig, raising money for the Shriners Hospitals for Children, which she supported throughout her life.

Lorraine is survived by her daughters, Kathryn (Wayne) Maddox of Lakewood Ranch, FL, Jackie (Rob) Tillson of Potomac, MD, and Linda Vedane of Lakewood, FL; four grandchildren, Kim (John) Eixman, Paul (Melissa) Maddox, Carrie (Steve Fogle) Ulrick and Robert Tillson; six great-grandchildren; niece, Marcy Helms of Newton, IA; nephew, Mike Wagner of Lewis, IA, and cousin, Lucille Alf of Lewis, IA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul in 1988; parents, Fred and Geneva Lindeman; parents-in-law, Victor and Hattie Vedane; sisters and brothers-in-law, Loretta (Herbert) Wagner, Hazelle (Ross) Riggs and Teckla (Ray) Myers; and a niece and four nephews.

Open visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 5th at Roland Funeral Home. Visitation with the family present will he held one hour prior to the service on Thursday, starting at 10:00 a.m.
