Obituary for Rebecca A. "Becky" Perkins

Rebecca “Becky” Ann (Rossell) Perkins, 57, of Atlantic, entered into eternal rest with her Savior on August 22, 2018.

Rebecca was born June 1, 1961 in Omaha, NE to Robert and Diana (Charron) Rossell. She attended Mount View Presbyterian Church and was a member of Job’s Daughters, culminating in being crowned the Honored Queen of her Bethel. She accepted Jesus as her Savior at age 7 while watching Billy Graham on television. She attended North High School in Omaha as a member of the class of 1980, where she was active in the Madrigal Singers, and was a Pom-Pom Girl with the Band.

After high school, she attended Peru State College in Peru, NE, earning her Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education in 1984. While there, she was a football cheerleader and was active in the music department.

On November 24, 1984, she was united in marriage to Tracy Perkins at Mount View Presbyterian Church in Omaha, NE.

After their marriage, the couple moved to Atlantic, where Rebecca accepted a position as the children’s librarian. She then left the workforce to raise her children. After raising her children, she went back to work in a position with Partnership for Progress, and loved working with the clients.

Rebecca enjoyed to share time with her family, and her beloved Dachshunds. She attended church at Sunnyside Bible Chapel.

Rebecca is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Diana Rossell; her grandparents on both sides, as well as several uncles and aunts. She is also preceded in death by her dachshunds, Perdita and Pepper.

She is survived by her husband, Tracy; her children: Daniel of West Des Moines, IA, Oran (fiancée Vanessa Keenan) of Atlantic, Joshua of Atlantic and Diana of Brookings, SD; brother, David (Janette) Rossell of Omaha; parents-in-law, Claude and Sherry Perkins of Randolph, IA; brothers-in-law, James Perkins of Tabor, IA and William (Andrea) Perkins of Cedar Rapids, IA; sister-in-law Debbie (Mike) Lesher of Tabor, IA; and many nieces and nephews and various other relatives as well as her dogs, Oscar and Puddles.

Open visitation will be from 1:00 p.m., Sunday, August 26th until the time of visitation with the family present. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Roland Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 27, 2018, at Roland Funeral Home. Burial will be held at later date in the Whipple Cemetery, near Griswold, Iowa. In keeping with Becky’s enthusiastic zest for life, the family encourages relatives and friends to wear bright colors to her service!
