Obituary for Wesley C. Kaiser

Wesley C. Kaiser, 63, of Ashland, Nebraska and formerly of Lewis, Iowa, passed away Monday, May 7, 2018, at Midlands Hospital in Papillion.

Wesley Charles Kaiser was born on February 23, 1955, the son of Duane Elton and Neva Janet (Gustason) Kaiser. He grew up on a farm near Lewis, Iowa, and graduated from Griswold High School in 1973. Following graduation, he traveled to various parts of the United States, from Florida to California, and places in between. Wesley returned to the area and lived in Omaha where he met Bonnie Plante. The couple married on April 3, 1979, in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Wesley and Bonnie made the Omaha/Millard area home while raising their children, Jamie and Jesse. In 2015, they downsized from their lake home to Ashland, NE. Wesley was in the truck tire business all of his life working at Alford Tire, Sapp Bros, Allied Oil & Tire, and for the last 13 years at Cross-Dillon Tire.

He loved riding his Harley-Davidson, and he and Bonnie enjoyed 14 straight years of attending Sturgis. Wesley looked forward to spring when he could begin planting his large garden. His love of music led he and Bonnie to many concerts, usually of artists of classic rock. There was rarely a time when he wasn’t busy with anything from tinkering to scrapping metal; the only time he ever sat down was to eat or sleep. Wesley was a people person and would engage in conversation with anyone; a true mingler, making friends wherever he went. Bonnie recalls many times having to push him along to where they were going otherwise he would have stayed and talked for days! Not only did he love to visit; he had a heart of gold and was generally willing to help anyone. His caring ways have benefited countless people through the years whether it be providing a place to stay for a stranded traveler while he fixed their car or serving family, friends and neighbors. He was that guy you could depend on to be there for you no matter what; being ready to give the shirt off his back was just his way. There was never a question of how much he loved his family; they were his world and he worked hard to provide for them. His grandkids recall visits to grandma and grandpas weren’t complete without pancakes. Wesley’s lovable and caring spirit will be missed by all who knew him.

Wesley will be deeply missed by his wife, Bonnie of Ashland, NE; daughter, Jamie Kaiser of Omaha, NE; son, Jesse (Heather) Kaiser of Bellevue, NE; grandchildren, Jacquie Kral, Ryleigh Kaiser, Jazlynn Kral, Neva Kaiser and Macy Kaiser; siblings, Susan (Warren “Butch) Kaiser of Springdale, AR, Danny Kaiser of Lewis, IA, and Sherry (Shawn) Askeland of Griswold, IA; brother-in-law, Doug Radford; mother-in-law, June Plante of Fargo, ND; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jeffrey Plante, Cheryl Plante, Pamela Plummer, and Timmy Braaten all of Fargo, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Duane and Neva Kaiser; sister, Nancy Radford; and father-in-law, Edward Plante.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 11, 2018, at the Griswold Community Center in Griswold, IA. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service beginning at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Lewis, IA.
