Obituary for Colleen E Jeppesen (Kitelinger)

Colleen Elaine Jeppesen, 79, of Exira, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at the Friendship Home in Audubon.

On September 24, 1937, Colleen Elaine was born the daughter of Keith and Ethel (Knudsen) Kitelinger in Exira, Iowa. She graduated from Exira High School in 1956. During high school she worked at Enockson's Ice Cream Shop in Atlantic, where she met the future love of her life, Lyle D. Jeppesen. The couple was united in marriage on March 22, 1957, at the Exira Lutheran Church. Colleen moved to Texas to be with Lyle during his time in the United States Air Force, and after his honorable discharge they settled on a farm southeast of Exira for the next seven years. When an opportunity arose for them to operate the Brayton Standard Station, they relocated those few miles west to Brayton and became part of the community there for 18 years. The couple moved to Arkansas for seven years, where Colleen was employed at Wal-Mart. In 1992, they returned to Iowa and farming; the life they loved best. During their many years in agriculture, Colleen loved working alongside her partner in life, Lyle.

Colleen looked forward to gathering with friends at community events and card club. She attended the Exira Fellowship Church.
