Obituary for Robert "Bobby" Maley

Robert "Bobby" Maley
Robert "Bobby" L. Maley, Jr., 69, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly and was welcomed into the arms of Jesus his Savior on Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Cass County Memorial Hospital.

Robert Lee Maley, Jr. was born on August 2, 1947, in Shenandoah, Iowa, the son of Robert Lee, Sr. and Bette June (Davis) Maley. He attended school in Shenandoah through the 7th grade when the family moved to Atlantic where he attended Atlantic High School graduating in 1965.

Following graduation he worked at Lindeman Tractor before enlisting in the United States Air Force in April 1966. During his tour of duty he was stationed in Albuquerque and eventually Thailand and was honorably discharged on April 1970. After his service he returned to Lindeman Tractor serving as Parts Manager for the next 43 years, retiring in October 2012. During his time at Lindeman's he was often seen at the parts counter late nights and weekends and would go out of his way to get a customer up and running again.

On September 20, 1968, he was united in marriage to Rebecca Sue Lindeman at the Atlantic Gospel Chapel. They were blessed with three boys, Tom, Rob and Ryan.

Bobby and Becky fellowshipped at the Atlantic Gospel Chapel and opened their home to the youth group Bible study for over 30 years. Bob liked to be active; from family road trips, walking around town, and hiking in Colorado. He also enjoyed boating and through his patience taught many to waterski. You could always count on Bobby to be in the stands supporting his kids and grandkids at their various sporting and school events. He will be remembered for being a selfless and humble servant in so many ways and a man who loved his bride and family so well.

Bobby will be deeply missed by his wife of 48 years, Becky; sons, Rob (Jody) Maley of Atlantic, and Ryan (Dee Dee) Maley of LaVista, Nebraska; grandchildren, Marcus, Hannah, and Garin Maley; sister, Karen Stuart of Winona, Minnesota; mother and father-in-law, Bob and Norma Jean Lindeman of Atlantic; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rick and Nancy Tasto and Fred and Cyd Lindeman all of Atlantic; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his son, Tom Maley; parents, Robert and Bette Maley; brother-in-law, Larry Stuart; and stepmothers, Kathie Maley and Mardelle Maley.

Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Roland Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, with Mike Eells of the Atlantic Gospel Chapel officiating. Burial will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.

To honor the memory of Bobby, Lindeman Tractor will be closed Thursday, May 4, until 1:30 p.m.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
