Obituary for Dwight Joseph Will

Dwight Joseph Will
Dwight J. Will, 69, of Wiota, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Dwight Joseph, the son of Gerald Pershing and Ardis Lucille (Morgan) Will was born November 12, 1947, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic. He attended Atlantic Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1967.

In 1966, Dwight showed the Grand Champion Steer at the Iowa State Fair. At that time he farmed his grandparents farm in Wiota, as well as an additional 40 acres that he purchased while in high school. He grew corn and beans and raised cattle, hogs, and horses.

On January 2, 1994, he was united in marriage to Cynthia Ann (Gregersen) Sykes at the First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic.

Many have said Heaven gained a legend. Others have said Dwight changed their lives sitting on a showbox, in a salebarn, even at the hospital. He was loved for his candor and humor. He was a 4-H leader, often holding fitting clinics teaching the younger generation how to groom and clip cattle. He loved to share his passion for cattle which he later got to enjoy with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Elk’s Lodge #445 in Atlantic and the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association. Dwight enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling, and traveling to Canada, Montana and South Dakota when he could get away from the farm. Most of all he loved raising show cattle and pigs and spending time with his family.

Dwight is preceded in death by his parents; his grandparent's, Harvey and Esther Morgan; his brother, Darrell and wife Patty Will.

He is survived by his wife Cindy Will of Wiota; his children, Dana and husband Keith Bisson of Palo, Iowa, Wendy and husband Patrick Goracke of Lincoln, Nebraska, Cody and wife Amanda Will of Wiota, Chance and wife Ashley Will of Wiota; his step children, Lee and wife Lori Sykes of Colfax, Iowa, Wes Sykes of Maryville, Missouri; his grandchildren, Trent Owens, Peyton Goracke, Jayden Bisson, Jake Bisson, Ashley Bisson, Brysen Goracke, Brant Will, Caden Will, Morgan Will, Kyser Will, Landrie Will; his nephew, Grant Will and family of Ramona, South Dakota; his niece, Angie Reinhardt and family of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota; other relatives and friends.
