Obituary for Duane E Anderson

Duane E. Anderson, 81, of Atlantic, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016, at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.

Duane Earl Anderson was born on March 20, 1935, in Big Lake, Minnesota, the son of Walter and Laura (Myers) Anderson. During his childhood he helped on the family dairy farm, and attended school in Big Lake. Following graduation in 1953, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country from 1953 to 1958, and during this time was qualified as a Power Equipment Maintenance Technician. After his honorable discharge he returned home to the dairy farm.

In 1966, with a little encouragement from his sister, Phyllis he moved to Atlantic and began working for Walnut Grove. He continued working there until his retirement in 1996. On April 7, 1973, he was united in marriage to Dora Dominguez in Kansas City, Missouri. They were a couple of faith, serving their Lord. Duane and Dora looked forward to trips to Branson where they took in a lot of country music, which they both loved.

Duane was an active member of Church of God of Prophecy/New Life Church and volunteered countless hours. He was a talented banjo player and when he was younger played with family and friends at a variety of events. Duane looked forward to spring when he could plant flowers and work in his garden that was his pride and joy. He was handy in carpentry and was always willing to help others with remodeling projects. Duane was an avid professional baseball fan, and attended many games including the Chicago Cubs, the then, Milwaukee, Braves, and the Kansas City Royals.

Duane is survived by his son, Ron of Atlantic; sisters, Phyllis (John) Carr of Atlantic and Beverly (George) Nagel of Trimble, MO; many extended family members; and his church family.
