Wayne H. Auerbach
Wayne H. Auerbach, 87, of Atlantic, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2015, at Cass County Memorial Hospital.
Wayne Howard Auerbach, the son of Frank L. and Nellie J. (Bornholdt) Auerbach, was born on November 29, 1927, at his parents home north of Atlantic, Iowa. He attended rural school Maple Dale #9 through the 8th grade, but left to help operate the family farm, north of Atlantic. On December 1, 1950, he enlisted into the United States Army, and was stationed in Germany. While in the military he developed all of the pictures he had taken himself. He was honorably discharged on November 11, 1952, and returned home and continued helping with the farm operation.
On December 14, 1953, he was united in marriage to Donnis Mardelle Brown in Atlantic, Iowa. Two children, Russell and Tracy were born to this union. Wayne and Donnis operated the family farm until retirement.
Wayne was a member of the Elk's Lodge in Atlantic. He enjoyed bowling and was a member of a bowling league for many years. Wayne loved playing cards, going to auctions and drinking coffee with his friends.
Wayne is survived by his son, Russell (Tammee) Auerbach and their children, Bradley, Corey and Aubrey, all of Herndon, Virginia; daughter, Tracy (significant other, Troy Cavin) Auerbach of Chariton, Iowa; brother, Lester Auerbach of Atlantic, Iowa; sister, Phyllis Ainsley of Oregon; step-sister, Cathy Edgar of Guthrie, Oklahoma; step-brother, Jerry (Sandy) Moore of Pittsville, Wisconsin; brothers-in-law, Pete (Corky) Brown and Duane (Alice) Brown all of Atlantic; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Donnis on August 7, 2013; parents, Frank and Nellie Auerbach; step-mother, Elizabeth Auerbach; sister, Mildred Auerbach; sisters-in-law, Iva Auerbach and LaVonne Harris; step-brother-in-law, Bob Edgar; nephews, Jeff Harris and Larry J. Schmidt; and niece, Susan E. Miller.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 27th at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 28th at 1st Assembly in Atlantic, with Pastor Guy Fisher officiating. Burial will be Monday, November 2, at 1:30 p.m. in the Atlantic Cemetery.
