The kind of man Dennis was.
One of the last times I saw Dennis, he, Karen, and the Anderson's were visiting me at my house after a recent surgery I'd had. We sat around talking, telling stories, telling jokes, laughing, and having a great time.
Just before they left Dennis asked if we could have a little prayer time together, so we stood there, I believe he had his arm on my shoulder, and he prayed in his beautiful, simple way, just asking God to bless our family and praying for my health.
I'm sure this has been the experience of many many others, and just exemplifies the kind of man he was.
Another one of my favorite memories of Dennis is of a time he brought me a skinned 120lb pig for a men's get together I was hosting at my house. He taught me to butcher it all out then we stuck on my smoker. About fifteen young men showed up and we had a great time of fellowship. A little later I noticed he was missing from the party, and I found him in the kitchen washing all the dishes! That is who Dennis was, showing up early to help cook, and staying late to help clean up.
I'm honored to have known Dennis and Karen from the day I was born, and proudly say that Dennis was a man I deeply respected and loved.
