James Leroy Clark (Father)
James Clark, 84, a long-time resident of Atlantic, Iowa passed away at Creighton University Medical Center on Saturday, December 7, 2013.
The son of Murl Clyde and Pearl Leona Kecran Clark, he was born September 22, 1929, in Atlantic, Iowa. James was united in marriage to Mary Lou Rhodes, October 26, 1953, in Blair, Nebraska. They established Clark's Vacuum in Atlantic in 1979 and he was only semi-retired, always keeping an eye on things at the store. He enjoyed fishing, playing card games and woodworking. James and Mary Lou have also traveled extensively, including Rome, Paris & most of the USA.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Clark of Atlantic; and children, Mike (Daleen) Clark of Atlantic; Mark Clark of Atlantic; Bill (Tammy) Clark of Exira; John (Brenda) Clark of Atlantic; Roger (Tabatha) of Atlantic; son-in-law Kent Dean of Idaho. 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchldren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two children, James Leroy Clark and Debra Ann Clark Dean.
A joint funeral will be held with his son, James L. Clark, on Wednesday, December 11, 10:00 AM, at the Roland Funeral Home with Pastor Guy Fisher of the First Assembly of God, officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
Family will meet with the public, Tuesday evening from 7-8:30 PM at the funeral home, following his son's visitation.
Open visitation is available at the funeral home during regular business hours on Tuesday and Wednesday prior to service time.
