Obituary for Merntha "Mert" Johnson (Adams)

MERNTHA “MERT” (GOCHANOUR/ADAMS) JOHNSON

Merntha Jane “Mert” (Gochanour/Adams) Johnson at the age of 90, of Gardner, Kansas, passed away on March 12, 2013, at Villa St. Joseph Nursing Home in Overland Park, KS. Merntha was a beloved mother and grandmother. Merntha took great pride in her three children as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Merntha was born in the township of Grant (Anita, Iowa) in the family home on September 19, 1922. She graduated the 8th grade from a one room school house.
Merntha was married to Alfred Adams on the 30th day of December, 1939. Alfred Adams passed away on March 12, 1960. Merntha married again in Atlantic, Iowa on the 20th day of August 1960 to James Neal Johnson and was widowed again.
She worked as a seamstress for many years. Merntha also worked as a crossing guard, a job she greatly loved. She enjoyed a variety of crafts, birds and loved her cocker spaniel Buffy. 
She is survived by her son, Alfred Gene Adams of Olathe, KS, and daughter Carol Marlene (Adams) Roberts of Gardner, KS. Merntha also leaves behind many beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by Her Mother (Edith Smith/Gochanour) father(Ed Gochanour), son Marion Adams and granddaughter Kimberly Adams.
Merntha's family is grateful for the love and care she received at Villa St. Joseph and the heartfelt condolences of friends and family.
