Robert Eugene "Bob"  Vokt
ROBERT 'BOB' VOKT

Robert 'Bob' Vokt, a longtime resident of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away at the age of 84 years on Tuesday morning, April 3, 2012, at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center.
Robert was born in Adair, Iowa in Guthrie County on November 17, 1927 to Fred H. and Eva (Bireline) Vokt. He was raised on the family farm west of Adair and he graduated from Adair High School with the class of 1945. The following April, Robert was drafted into the U. S. Army and was honorably discharged in May of 1947. Robert then attended Simpson College where he received a BS in Business Administration. On May 18, 1952, Robert was united in marriage to Evelyn Jean Cron in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adair and he has resided in Atlantic since 1952. He was employed by Camblin Plumbing and Heating then transferred to Camblin Mechanical, Inc. where he was employed until his second retirement from Camblins after 55 years. Robert is a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic. He loved his work and the people he worked with at Camblins, and Robert especially treasured the opportunities to spend time with his children and grandchildren. During retirement, he enjoyed playing golf and cards at Nishna Hills and traveling with special friend Marge Hockum.
He is survived by a daughter, Pamela Lucas and husband Luke of Kitty Hawk, N.C. and two sons, Rev. Michael Vokt and wife Jill of Davenport, IA and Roger Vokt and wife Angie of Austin, TX; six grandchildren, Jessica Lucas and Valerie Lucas of Austin, TX, Kristen Vokt and Peter Vokt of Davenport, IA, Ashlyn Vokt and Ryland Vokt of Austin, TX; one sister, Janice Richter of West Des Moines, IA; one grand stepdaughter, Amber West of TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Eva Vokt; and wife, Jean Vokt.
There will be open visitation at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic on Wednesday and Thursday, April 4 and April 5, from 8:00 to 5:30 then on Friday, April 6, from 8:00 to 3:00. From 3:00 to 8:00 on Friday, April 6, there will be a family visitation at the funeral home. Services for Bob will be held Saturday, April 7, at 10:00 am at the Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic with Pastor Kenneth Davidson, officiating. The committal will be in the Atlantic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church of Atlantic.
