Eugene Everett Figgins

Eugene Figgins, age 76, a long time resident of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Wednesday evening, March 14, 2012, at the Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
Eugene, the son of Woodrow Harry and Beatrice Pieken Figgins, was born in Cass County on June 16, 1935. He attended school in Atlantic and graduated from the Atlantic High School. On January 8, 1958, Eugene entered the United States Army where he served until December 22, 1959.
He is survived by sisters, Betty Pope and husband, Tom, from Lewis, IA, Arlene Roush and husband, Dale, of Avoca, IA, Eilene Toland of Lewis, IA, and Elaine Garside and husband, Leo, of Atlantic, IA; brothers, Ed Figgins and wife, Lois, of Atlantic, Robert Figgins and wife, Barb, of Brayton, IA, Jim Figgins and wife, Marge, and Jack Figgins, all of Atlantic, IA.
Eugene is preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Beatrice Figgins; his grandmother, Louise Pieken; and a nephew, David Figgins.
There will be a private family gathering for Eugene at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa, on Friday, March 16, at 11:00 with Pastor Leon Hodges officiating. There is open visitation at the funeral home for signing his book all day Friday.
