Obituary for Kenneth LeRoy "Beaner" Ihnken

KENNETH "BEANER" LEROY IHNKEN

Kenneth "Beaner" Ihnken of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at the Cass County Hospice Center. He was 79 years of age.
Kenneth was born to John Frederick and Dosha Lucinda (Burtcheard) Ihnken in rural Wiota on January 24, 1932. He attended school in Wiota where he graduated from high school. Kenneth joined the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He was employed by Cass County as a hydroscopic and dragline operator. Kenneth retired in 1994 after working there for 37 1/2 years. On April 14, 1957, he was united in marriage to Lois Marie Walker in the St. John's Lutheran Church at rural Adair. Kenneth was a member of the Audubon County Conservation Club and he enjoyed trap shooting, hunting, fishing, hiking, biking and gardening. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his special delight. Kenneth was known as an honest, loyal, helpful, content and happy man. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic.
Surviving Kenneth is his wife, Lois, of Atlantic; sons, Scott Ihnken and wife LuAnn and Brian Ihnken, all of Atlantic; grandchildren, Adam Ihnken of Atlantic, Jill (Josh) Kvinlaug of Des Moines and Aaron Ihnken of Atlantic; great grandchildren, Tashayla Ihnken and Arthur and Eleanor Kvinlaug; sisters, Inez Ward of Ames and Helen Rossell of Atlantic; sisters-in-law, Laura Ihnken and Marilyn Ihnken of Atlantic, Ruth Walker of Ames, Jean (Ramon) Smith of Atlantic and Karen Smith of Colorado.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents; step mother, Cora Daughenbaugh; his parents-in-law; brothers, John Ihnken, Jr., Dallas Ihnken and Larry Ihnken; brother-in-law Charles Smith.
